It came quickly - but I needed a metal box immediately

I had a similar plastic box but for some reason after two years of operation both ear hooks cracked and broke. The holes for this metal replacement didn't line up exactly with my original plastic box, but I was able to adjust to it.

Pros
  • a handy item
Cons
  • Negative impression

Fits perfectly, best for outlets

The eaves of my house are narrow and boxy so my ring heater can't sit on the ceiling without touching the bezel. It was ideal as a junction box and mounting bracket for the ring. Durable metal and weatherproof. Should last a long time.

Pros
  • Excellent overall performance
Cons
  • Some difficulties

Non-standard thread size

The box is solidly constructed, but there are no mounting screws. It was recommended to me (Revain algo) when I bought the headlight. The screws included in the headlight do not fit into the threads of this electronic box. I have yet to figure out what size screw to buy and I have yet to drive to the hardware store to complete the installation.

Pros
  • Excellent construction
Cons
  • Poor repairability

Does what it's designed to do

I used this to install an outdoor security camera/light around the garage. It comes with five holes so you can choose which one you need for your application and four plugs for holes you don't use. If you're going to use it in a humid environment, you'll need to seal the stoppers with silicone, so make sure you have it handy.

Pros
  • Stable test results
Cons
  • Almost OK

Product Dimensions

Sizing these weatherproof junction boxes was a breeze. I was looking for a 5 1/2" DIAMETER box to install a motion sensor light for my garden. When I received the box I found that it was only 4 1/2" - the specs are NOT clear, what size is listed i.e. box depth, diameter etc.

Pros
  • Durable Finish

Beware of mixed reviews

Screw size issues and burrs on some threads. Get ready to play with your rig or order another box. Schedule a visit to the store and buy the screws you need for the box and a thread tap to remove thread burrs before installation. Too many mixed reviews and I decided to give it a try. The work went twice as fast, so I don't recommend it, even if it's hard to find in white and metal.

Pros
  • Electric
Cons
  • Drill Pack

Extra sized screws

Screws not included - no problem. Non-standard screw size is a problem. The standard mounting screw for this type of box is 8-32. Most of the fasteners you'll attach to this box will typically contain regular 8-32 screws. But in this box, the 8-32 bolt is very loose and won't hold, and the 10-32 is too big to fit. I had to drill and tap threads to size 10-32. I bought 2 of these for a lighting project. Both have the same story. Not recommended.

Pros
  • Tools and household goods
Cons
  • Ugly packaging

Definitely wrong screw size available.

Of course you can trust the reviews that complain about the wrong size screws that come with it (wish they existed). In fact, I think the box isn't plugged in properly/poorly, but the end result is the same - I can't attach one side of the mounting plate (with the ground wire connector) with one of the included screws. I was able to screw in a short wood screw to get a reasonably tight fit, but it wasn't supposed to work that way. Unfortunately I had to install a security light immediately and…

Pros
  • Dispensing Boxes
Cons
  • No Instructions
