Not strong enough to hold a wooden cape on a tripod

I was disappointed with this set. Using it on the wooden mailbox I have will not be sufficient. I can't use it for that. But maybe I'll find a use for it in the future. When painting outdoors, needs and materials change.

Pros
  • Large selection
Cons
  • Sad packaging

Does the job: Attachment to the easel with tripod screw

All-metal. Ease of installation. Fits standard tripod thread screw. A spacer is required to provide space between each mounting screw to ensure firm contact with the tripod plate. You'll have to make your own out of some sort of foam or plastic with glue.

Pros
  • The best in its niche

DIY Plein Air Made Easy

After craving a gift box but not wanting to spend money on a well made one, I decided to add it to my existing wood paint box. All the necessary equipment was there. I added a tripod quick release plate for easy on and off. I use a ball head so I can adjust the angle.

Pros
  • Inspires Confidence
Cons
  • Faint Set

Good but useful for camera mounts and clips

Expensive but works. It works, this is the output. I wouldn't be rude with that because over time you can wear down the mount. Just note that you can buy some of these parts at any hardware store. Or even cheaper here at Revain. It's hanging from a box of Capri Sketch I bought from Jerry's Artarama here at Revain. Depending on the quality of your box, you may need a drill. Mine is cheap beech, so I just used a screw and screwdriver to pierce it by hand. Note: you need a really good tripod to…

Expensive. for accessories for tripods and monopods

This item is overpriced. I bought it to mount on a large French box, but the product really shouldn't cost more than $5-8 for what it is. You will need to drill about a 1/2" hole in your box to mount the plate properly so that the tripod mount side is completely flush with the tripod plate for stability. Finally for my fat panel box hostess (Richeson) I half drilled a hole and then carefully cut out a hole large enough to dig in a center head screw and used 4 screws to attach the panel instead…

Pros
  • Elegant design
Cons
  • Long delivery time

What you need is the box you bought doesn't have it.

Just add this to the cost of the box and order. You need to mount it on a plein air tripod. I believe some boxes may come with this attachment. I don't have a Thumbox 6x8. The rubber feet feel nice, but you're actually buying them to mount on a tripod. Note that all 8 screws in this box are sticking out in the bottom so you CANNOT stick a 6x8 watercolor palette of any colors in the bottom as it won't fit in depth anymore. I didn't know about it and it really messed up my setup until I…
