can't crimp/hold the wire - metal too thin

I don't understand all the positive reviews - these things are horrible the metal is so thin after crimping try to pull the wire it comes out instantly , because the metal is so thin that it comes off. But most people won't notice this because they'll start shrinking right away, so it'll stay natural, but the connection inside is weak

Pros
  • easy install
Cons
  • bits and pieces

Cheap but works. on scoop

Definitely cheaper materials but works. Used with both ends from this kit as well as mixing brands and no problems with loose or missing connections. I will say the ferrule part could be a bit thicker but with a good tool and once heated the glue will hold it together nicely. Just don't pull too hard before it's glued. Basically I am satisfied with the price.

very cheap, not homogeneous

The metal inside is very thin. I have never seen one made of such thin metal anywhere. Red connectors are not the same either. The female end is designed for larger wire than the male end, so I couldn't use them for 20 gauge wire for my car stereo. I've tried different crimping tools, they just don't hold, the metal is too thin. I now have 260 pieces of something I can't use.

Pros
  • Elegant design
Cons
  • You could have chosen a newer model

Does not crimp properly, thin metal, not soldered

These connectors are not of very good quality. 1. The heat shrink tubing extends well beyond the inside of the spatula, wrapping around it and causing a portion of it to have to be cut off to fit the splice. 2. They are NOT soldered and the crimped metal is very thin. 3. Do not perform a full crimp when using the standard Ancor ratchet crimp tool. Since I discovered it too late to return them I wasted $20. Absolutely AVOID use in marine or automotive environments.

Pros
  • Lots of positive emotions
Cons
  • Transparency

Can't say anything bad - Shovel

We've run out of expensive ones and need something urgently. Instead of paying $5 for 3 at the auto parts store, I threw in the dice and ordered them. Not the same as the 3m products I use almost exclusively, but about 1/3 the price, and here for a day with Prime. Surprisingly, they curl up well and the self-adhesive backing makes for a good seal. Higher temperature than 3m is required for good shrinkage, but be patient and keep moving the heat source. Higher shrink temperatures are probably…

It's terrible. Where do you get positive reviews from?

I have used 4 different crimping machines from cheap to ratchet crimping machines from different brands. I tried every possible way to get the fitting to curl, not stretch, and it was impossible. I've used red eyelets on 16 gauge wire and a red slot on my crimping tools and not once have I been able to get a crimp that won't pull out. I sat down on my bench and tried at least a dozen times. I've never tried shrinking them because that's the wrong way to make crimp connections. I even have a…

Pros
  • Great design
Cons
  • Crumpled packaging

Good value for money

The metal on these connectors is very thin and does not mate well with other manufacturers' connectors without some 'matching'. Using a small ratchet crimping tool, the insulation prevented a tight crimp. I found it necessary to carefully "finish" the crimp with the ViseGrips. Perhaps a manufacturer-supplied product would have worked better. Liked the heat shrinkability, but must be careful not to shrink the tubing around the joint areas themselves - the tubing makes it difficult to…

Pros
  • Excellent overall performance
Cons
  • Doubtful

Very good value for money.

The metal on these connectors is very thin. To get an idea of how thin it is, look at the male part of the shovel and notice that it's twice the thickness of the metal used - it's curved with folds on each side and a joint in the Center. I wouldn't use them for connections that will be plugged and unplugged frequently as I expect them to bend and loosen over time (the plug/connector part, not the crimp/shrink part). " crimping tool (before my heat shrink crimp tool arrived) and it was a…
