Not the quality of other Hakko's

Very weak compared to other 20 watt irons. We have a selection of other Hakko instruments, no problem at all. stay as a backup. That's enough for a layman at best.

Pros
  • Inspires confidence
Cons
  • Not fashionable

A very good pen. brand loyalty for me.

I am very happy with this product to replace my 984 which I bought in Japan and which blew up after 5 years from accidental use with a 220 PSU. The only difference is that the 984 has a comfortable body. Great soldering pen.

Pros
  • Pretty packaging
Cons
  • Can't remember

Works but Hakko FX-600 is much better

Edit: Downgraded from 4 stars to 2 because Hakko FX-600 is much better value for money, is more ergonomic, electronic temperature control, adjustable, heats up faster and has a much better tip selection. I use the (genuine Hakko) Japanese version sold here at Revain, USA (B006MQD7M4) which is about half the price of the Hakko model in the US market. I use this soldering iron for soldering wires and I love the turbo button that speeds up the initial heat up (I hold it down for about 30 seconds…

Pros
  • Great for outdoor activities
Cons
  • Not sure
