Easy landline alternative

Ooma Telo systems work great. Very easy to use interface for setting up a new device. With Ooma, you can choose a phone number (with an area code of your choice), but you can then arrange with Ooma to port your existing phone number to replace the one you've chosen. (Transfer costs $40.) The device has a built-in voicemail system and will send notifications (and records) of received messages to the specified email address. The three portable phones in this bundle were also easy to set up and…

Worth investing

UPDATE: 04/27/21 The problem here is that we have had this unit plugged in for 4 months and Ooma refuses to admit they have a problem with their parties when editing one stored credit card. A credit card that works great with any other car purchase or even point of sale. Fix the problem and make our service work. We entered the account information for the record, spoke verbally to the representative and did so and every time they say yes it works then after a day or so there is a warning that…

if you want to keep saying "what?" "can you repeat it please?", "Huh?", "Can you say that again, please?" Then this system is for you! It's very difficult to understand what the people on the other end are saying because of the muffled audio. In addition, the overall quality of communication with them is very often poor and suffers from too many instantaneous dropouts. Also, your voice often reverberate for about half a second after you say something. I thought they were great but turns out…

Do not purchase this product if you need number portability.

I bought a Telo and three phones to use as my home phone. We've had the same number for 35 years. Setup was easy and the sound quality is good. When I tried to port our home number from Straighttalk to ooma, the port was refused. I received an email from ooma porting saying I had to call Straighttalk to resolve the issue. I did it. The port was resubmitted and rejected again. I received another email from ooma saying I need to call Straighttalk to fix the error. When I called Straighttalk their

Use a standard cordless phone system instead of Ooma HD3 phones

I have been a long time user of an Ooma system and needed to replace my 8 year old Ooma Telo so I bought a newer three (3rd generation) Telo ) HD3 tubes together with one HD3 tube for a total of four (4) tubes. Right out of the box we had issues with call audio quality and some handsets didn't ring when a call came in. Since they are designed for two lines, neither you nor they have the option of switching off the 2nd line. If a second call comes in during a call, the other handsets will ring…
