Type of review

Ever since I bought the Sigma 100-400 DG DN OS telephoto zoom lens for the Sony E-mount, I have regretted the decision not to order a tripod mount with it. The lens was too heavy for handheld shots. The TS-111, Sigma's official mount, costs around $130. The search for an alternative brought me here. This lens mount fits the lens perfectly. It's metal and strong enough to hold a heavy lens in place.

Great for Sigma 100-400

I ordered a Sigma 100-400mm DG DN OS lens and added it as an alternative to the very expensive 1/3 cost Sigma collar. No regret. Well constructed, durable to the touch and a perfect fit. It didn't come with instructions, but it was easy enough to figure out. Comes with a hex wrench to swap out the base. The only minor gripe is that the white alignment mark on the collar doesn't quite line up with the height of the camera when you align it with the alignment mark on the lens, but that doesn't…

A must have for this telephoto lens

Okay I've been installing this collar for about 2 months and it's essential for such a large lens. The fully extended lens looks like a modern-day rocket launcher. That being said, I recommend one of these if you're shooting with a tripod. This takes a lot of pressure off the eMount case. Now I wish Sigma would supply these via the manufacturer along with the lens, but it's relatively cheap compared to a proprietary lens. I honestly still think it cost a little more than it should have, but…

Just as good as the Sigma

I have both a Sony 100-400mm zoom lens and a Sigma version with this great focal length. The Sigma also performs extremely well after extensive comparison tests. I'm a well known pro and if you're still wondering which lens to buy, here's my full review: https://www.amazon.com/review/RA16EO4QY2VI6/ref=cm_cr_srp_d_rdp_perm?ie=UTF8&ASIN=B08BHPVZB4 Sigma, because there is no Sigma tripod. However, at 40% of Sony's value, I'm glad that's not the case. As great as the Sony 100-400 is, the collar…

Depends on how you use it

We bought this collar first because it is much smaller than the Sigma. Overall it works well - stays tight and holds the lens in place for long exposures (5-10 seconds with an ND filter and still sharp) but there was one thing we just couldn't get used to: it had a tendency to sag. or move down a little if you're trying to get a close shot. We really did notice a difference between this and the Sony 70-200mm 2.8GM built-in collar. There is never any downward drift with this lens ring. So when…

I see no reason to pay twice as much for a famous brand!

I recently bought a Sigma 100-400mm DC DN lens for the Sony E-mount and like everyone else I immediately realized I needed a tripod ring/leg to support all that weight. While the typical price for something like this is around $50, the Sigma TC-111 is inexplicably listed for $130! There aren't many generic options out there yet, but I've found that this brand has had good reviews on other products, so I'm betting it would work well since it's more affordable. I am very pleased! It feels quite…
