Currently works best on storage racks

Bought to raise my Yakima Skybox 18. Installation was pretty easy. Haven't found any instructions. The hardware appears to be of excellent quality. Based on my layout I flipped a few things so I can pull in the other direction. I also attached a pull rope to the winch to raise it and released the brake lever. I got a different pulley from McMasterCarr so I twist the cable 90 and connect it to the winch. I had a hard time getting the crate on the floor and aligning the straps. I think this isโ€ฆ

Pros
  • COMPATIBLE WITH ANY CARGO BOX: Designed to safely and conveniently store a Cargo Box when organizing your garage. Commonly used with Thule, Yakima, SportRack and JEGS roof racks, but is compatible with all brands.
Cons
  • Big and bulky

Yes, it's rocket science. That's why the installation took so long. Actually, it's not that bad if you define the angles and limits of the amount of lift compared to the distance to the block on the sidewall. I'm very picky and have worked with limited space and 21ft surf kayaks/skis. The price really bothered me initially compared to 3 other elevators that were purchased for less than $30 each. I saw at a fair where you can get a discount, but the price put me off. The main block/cam shouldโ€ฆ

Pros
  • THREE LENGTHS AVAILABLE: Choose from 10', 12' or 16' depending on the ceiling height of your garage.
Cons
  • So far so good

Worth it - much better than T-hangers

We have 2 sea kayaks (16+17ft, 60-65lbs each) and an 8.5ft deck in our garage. I tried T-hangers first due to the much lower cost, but you must first lift the kayak to the ceiling before you can place it on these hangers, then one is on the bends of the bracket and the gap is on the other side. reduced. Plus, you have to leave kayak-wide horizontal space to stand up and slide on those hangersโ€”that's 100 inches wide overall, and lifting 65 pounds for 8 feet isn't easy. So I bit the bullet andโ€ฆ

Pros
  • THE SAFEST LIFT DESIGN WITH FALL PROTECTION SYSTEM: Self-locking bar engages instantly to prevent accidental release in the event of a rope fall. The patented system lifts the load evenly, regardless of weight distribution, allowing the load to be stored against the garage ceiling and providing maximum clearance below.
Cons
  • No instructions
