Hard seat post, small pad

I attached a Scott mountain bike saddle to this post and took it out on the singletrack several times. I don't do big jumps or anything, just looking for a little relief over tree roots and fast falls. Unfortunately, this seatpost is almost unyielding. I weigh 160 pounds and completely unscrewed the bottom nut to keep it as soft as possible. and spring), but could hardly lower the seat with great effort. Once the pillar began to move, it sank as low as it should, but it took a lot of pressureโ€ฆ

slight improvement, wants protection; Bolt Broke

Many thanks to JP for identifying the Century P/N C-822 spring to mitigate this. As delivered, set fully soft, max compression (based on dabs of lube) was around 1cm after a few rides and was barely noticeable on my Mongoose Argus Sport aluminum frame fat tire bike. Replacing this softer spring and adding about 1cm of preload has increased travel and reduced shock transmitted to the saddle. Sticking to smeared grease, then pulling through a gasket, then jamming or grinding parts. Works withโ€ฆ

Great contribution for the money.

I bought this to replace an 18 year old USE XCR shock that finally failed. The seat rail clamp is more secure than the one on my old rack, and the preload is just right for a 175-pound rider. However, I would like them to make it a little bigger. I had to adjust the insert to the minimum to accommodate my height. Works just as well as my old XCR but costs a quarter as much. It absorbs unexpected shocks and is therefore easier on your bum, back and rear wheel, but remember that such racks areโ€ฆ

Great quality but I installed a lighter spring

I ordered this seatpost for my hardtail fatbike. The product corresponded to the description and fit perfectly in my frame. For the price, the product is surprisingly high quality and weighs less than I expected. The seat can be adjusted forward/backward and the angle of inclination to suit your bike. The internal spring is too stiff for the average person. I'm guessing this would work for a 300 lb person, but I weigh about 180 lbs. The nib is 4 inches long and there are many replacement nibsโ€ฆ

. to get a seat post that makes you feel like you are on a cloud

Some customers who reviewed this product were looking for a seat post that makes you feel like you are on a cloud sit. If you have a soft seatpost, all the power you generate with each pedal stroke is wasted due to this damping. If you bike to get somewhere, you can't have it. The only thing you can really get out of the seatpost is knocking out some of the quick impacts that can hurt you - impacts that would otherwise be routed up the tailbone and cause back pain.
