Motion sensors in security and surveillance systems

I like these little motion sensors. I connect them to ESP8266 development boards and create my own home security system at a fraction of the cost. I also connected one of these to some LEDs with a relay so they light up as soon as I enter the room. Many possibilities. .

Pros
  • few competitors
Cons
  • unreliable

Rugged and inexpensive IR sensor for your next Arduino project

This is a great little IR sensor for projects where you need to detect motion from 1 to 15 feet away. You'll also need something more powerful, but for what it's supposed to do, this little sensor has a jumper configuration, easy threshold adjustment with built-in potentiometers, and an aggressive price point. I think it's a great purchase!

Pros
  • Rugged construction
Cons
  • No car

Works well with Pi Pico

I had fun building a little circuit that would beep, blink an LED and write on an OLED display when anything moves in space. It comes with a nice data sheet that simplifies wiring. Sensor: red wire to Vbus on pico, yellow wire to GP28, gray wire to GND on pico, LED on Gnd Buzzer: GP14 to buzzer on Gnd Micropython: import machineimport utimefrom ssd1306 import SSD1306_I2Csensor_pir = machine.Pin(28, machine.Pin. IN, machine.Pin.PULL_DOWN)sda=machine.Pin(20)scl=machine.Pin(21 )i2c=machine.I2C(0…

Pros
  • Great price
Cons
  • Big and bulky
