Excellent oscillator signal amplifier

Great product. The power of my weak signal generator was greatly boosted with this amplifier to levels that could drive other loads. Very happy with the quality and performance. buy more.

Pros
  • Stylish and modern design
Cons
  • Upgrades

Great little amp. in receiver and amplifier

Worked great. I used it to build a small guitar amp out of an old speaker. Added an input connector and powered it from a 9V battery. Sounds great at desktop volume. Might even get a small crack/distortion when cranking.

Pros
  • Very impressive
Cons
  • Seniors

Only need a low powered amp for a small speaker

Tried to drive both 5V and 12V DC. Tried several low level sources, like the headphone jack. Extremely high distortion, independent of the gain control. Tried two of the 5 amps and wondered if I hit a bad apple. No, both were terrible. Can't recommend these at all. Don't waste your time or the few dollars it takes to buy one.

Pros
  • Certified
Cons
  • Not reliable

Vibrations like crazy

Board shipped with wrong component values for R2 and C4. These two components form the snubber circuit from the output of the amplifier chip to ground and are needed to suppress high-frequency oscillations. The board comes with 10 pF for C4 and 220 ohms for R2. A quick look at the LM386 datasheet says C4 should be 50nF and R2 should be 10 ohms. After replacing these two parts with the desired values, the fluctuations disappeared and the board works normally.

Pros
  • Acceptable
Cons
  • Poorly thought out

Poorly made circuit. Signal ground and power are first mixed at the front end, which at least adds to the main problem with this board design. totally useless distortion and in most cases no output other than a high frequency squeak (no matter where I set the onboard potentiometer). So far I've been able to get some sound by adding a 100kΞ© resistor before the signal input. They also didn't seem to follow any of the best practice layout examples from the LM386 datasheet, although I can't say…

Pros
  • Few competitors
Cons
  • I'm worried
