Amazing Sound Quality!

I purchased this amplifier to use with my home theater setup, and was blown away by the sound quality. Electronics definitely play a role in the clarity of the result. Through trial and error, I found that the setup was easy and straightforward, allowing me to quickly get started with using it. One downside was that the size of the amplifier was larger than I anticipated, but I was able to work around this by rearranging my setup. Overall, highly recommend for any home audio enthusiasts!

Pros
  • Great sound quality
Cons
  • Large size

My favorite audio amplifier for small/medium projects

I have used this board for various projects and it has always been reliable. I ran it on 24V, but in most cases 12V is enough. If you're a bit more techy there are several sources on how to improve the board by substituting better capacitors and chokes, but I've never felt the need. The only modification I've come up with is to solder a 4.7uF cap to the "mute" pins to serve as a "de-pop" method to get the pop to eliminate the speaker when power is applied.

Pros
  • Electronics
Cons
  • Slightly wrinkled

It works, but don't expect 160 watts.

This board is a TI TPA3118 Class D audio chip configured for Parallel Bridged Load (PBTL). See the TPA3118 data sheet for detailed information. I tested the device on a workbench with a 4 ohm load and monitored both output lines with an oscilloscope set to channel differential mode ch1-ch2. The output power at the load before the delimiters corresponds to the input power voltage. TI doesn't give us exactly the information we want, but their graphs show that the total distortion starts to…

Pros
  • Receiver and Amplifier
Cons
  • Expensive
