Newer versions of the FireTV remote use hard plastic with no rubber coated rubber (released by Revain). In this latest version, the rubber coating tends to repel oils from the skin. This coating helps to significantly reduce that greasy look and feel.

I like these cases, they make it easier to find the remote control. However, I have a helper for this and wanted to know how to do it. (Sidekick is a clip on the side remote that allows for some of the programmable buttons I use to control the soundbar.) I had to cut a bit on one side, which allowed the auxiliary clamp to grab the stick. It's not perfect, but it's more than passable and serves its purpose well.

I bought this because to my endless disappointment my son likes to play with the back of the remote control which causes the back cover to come off exposing the batteries. This cover slides easily onto the FireStick and prevents access to the battery cover, which is why I bought it. The material has good thickness and durability - I was afraid it would become brittle and tear but it isn't. The bonus is that the material is slightly grippy (and light), making it harder to getting lost in pillows
