As other reviewers have pointed out, it's best used at night...it's an ointment, so it's thick and heavy . I can't imagine using it all day and still being able to type, type, drive etc unless it's just applied to the cuticles. I keep it on my bedside table and use it before bed... I also put it on my foot (toes and cuticles). Definitely softens and moisturizes. My hands and cuticles look and feel a lot healthier when using this product. Considering the ingredients, performance could have been expected. The oil in the balm formed a layer on my skin that lasted about 10 minutes. In the end I managed to rub it into the skin. I have contact dermatitis on my hands which I am currently treating with steroids. My skin is itchy, has rashes and is also a bit flaky. I like it, but it feels oily. I mostly use it at night with mittens on, but I still think they come off within an hour or two of falling asleep. While my hands feel soft in the morning, this ointment doesn't lock in moisture or anything. Once I've washed my hands, I reach for lotion. This balm is thick and similar to petroleum jelly, but harder. It's very oily so not a hand cream you can apply and go. More at night when it has time to soak up. It's good for dry skin areas like elbows, knees, heels, etc. It actually makes a great foot cream with light cotton socks. It has many uses and moisturizes, but this balm is too thick and greasy for quick hydration. I use it at night and my hands feel softer in the morning. I have also used it on my feet and it works well.
