They are really pretty and they look very good, but the smell destroys the atmosphere. I recommend if you buy these wash them with soap. It helped reduce the awful smell. It won't harm them either, but your water will turn super green and stain everything until it dries. I think it could be the smell coming from the repainting. At first, as everyone said, it smelled, but not like urine. as a very strong dye. They were well packaged, all tied together and easily detached. but I didn't want to take them apart until I washed them. I placed them in a bucket and filled them with warm water until well covered, then added 2-3 tablespoons of my favorite non-harsh laundry soap (Ms. Meyers).
