Type of review

The item worked as described, except that the alarm volume was not loud enough. The alarm went off in the basement laundry room, but I didn't hear it upstairs. The product was defective after 4 months. It just gets in the way all the time so I had to take the batteries out.

Pros
  • Permanent test results
Cons
  • Useless functions

This instrument has a short lifespan

I was initially happy with these lead detectors but they don't last long. I also have two older versions (RWD41) that still work fine, but these died in a relatively short time. I assumed they worked and was surprised by an under sink leak that was NOT found. Disappointing!

  • GOLS Certificate
Cons
  • Quick Start Guide

Do not buy! suitable for water and alarm detector

Complete nonsense! The beep is only audible when you are at ear level within 6 feet of it. Once in the basement or under/in a closet or anywhere other than a corner or wall this thing is useless! They could use a much louder alarm, but that would drain the battery too quickly - save money for a device that plugs into an outlet!

Pros
  • All right!
Cons
  • Discontinued model

Easy to set up: water detectors and alarms

The unit comes with a 5ft sensor cable which gives good coverage of the area of possible water leaks. Two AA batteries are not included. Today, most battery-powered devices come with batteries. I deducted a star for that. Revain Delivery - The package was thrown between two bushes in front of our house. Not good! A few more steps and the package could be left in front of the front door.

Pros
  • Stylish and modern design
Cons
  • Some cons

Test not working on devices - tech support stinks

I bought three of these devices. Right out of the box, the test button doesn't work on two. The third didn't open. There are no instructions other than those on the back of the box. Technical support is sorely lacking. I managed to repeat my name, phone number and email address multiple times. So if it's a "communication" with tech support, consider it a success. Oh, and I listened to all kinds of shitty music in the elevator as I was taken to one person after another.

Pros
  • Easy to use
Cons
  • So-so

DOA - dead on arrival - do not buy!

The device was not working upon arrival. I've tried several alkaline batteries and even bought a battery tester with no success. Neither the presence of water on the sensor cable nor the "Test" button will cause the device to respond. waste of time and money. It's not even possible to register the device on the manufacturer's website as it doesn't even list the RWD42 product number - perhaps they are rightly ashamed of this device as they should be. Unfortunately after 30 days I realized it was

Pros
  • Makes you happy
Cons
  • The list is getting long.
