Hot Max 24172 10 Striker Replacement Review

I have found that this striker does not produce any sparks unless you bend your arm to press hard on the flint. If you don't, it just moves back and forth and does absolutely nothing. It turned out to be completely useless for what I wanted (lighting a propane lamp).

We used to have an auto-ignition stove, but one day the big pot (boiling turkey) boiled over and brought the pilots short. Well, this device reminds me of what we had in the chemistry lab (HS/FH) to light Bunsen burners. It works great and lasts a lot longer than butane lighters.

It was terrible and I sent it back. The flint hammer will not actually spark even with a small adjustment. The striker is actually a bit round and it's just a poorly designed device. I shouldn't have expected more for the low price, but at least I assumed it would work. NO. Pay a little more and get the best.

Couldn't generate sparks with a simple press and burned my hand a bit trying to turn and press the buttons. Luckily I found my old one that worked decades ago. Based on other reviews some work great and others are just as bad as mine. It appears that the quality control issue is either with the alignment of the bends or with the force of the spring.

I bought it because it looked very similar to the striker I had a few years ago. It doesn't work either, so I'm throwing it away and looking for a better model. The pressure between the flint and the firing pin is not sufficient, so the compression does not always result in a spark. When I try to light the burners on the stove I want the first print to hit because I want to put my hand in and out before a lot of gas comes out.
