Ink is ink, like any other ink. But the HP boy doesn't want you to buy it yourself. HP wants you to subscribe to the Instant Ink plagiarism. They want it badly. When I first replaced the cartridge (after actually printing too little), a lot of pop-ups suddenly appeared on my computer screen, and the printer's LCD itself had a bunch of crazy messages. This 63xl cartridge has worked flawlessly for about a week. Then one day I decided to throw this error saying the specified cartridges are not for use in this printer! As you can see in the photos, my black 63xl and my colored 63 work perfectly. Other 63 lx color cartridges have worked without problems in the past. These things cost a lot of money, and as the owner of a small behavioral health consulting business, I can't afford to waste $40.

The description for this cartridge says about 330 pages so I'm either wrong or I'm not! I was planning on printing a 63-page e-book and popping this new cartridge into the printer so I wouldn't have to worry about it running out of ink midway through. Imagine my surprise when I came to check and saw that the printing stopped because there was not enough ink to continue and had already printed a few pages colorless due to ink shortage! I've just opened my ink cartridge to use it and my printer says it's empty. Very disappointed after what I paid for this item. That's why I keep paying more and buying original HP cartridges instead of refilled cartridges, but even if I pay full price for the original, I don't get a full cartridge. Since I bought it as a backup cartridge and didn't need to use it right away, I now have no way of getting my money back.
