Excellent ink. Smooth, dark and high quality, and the size is perfect for rubbing ink. When used with a good ink stone, the laborious rubbing of the ink feels almost comfortable.

Not dark enough for calligraphy. But you get what you paid for! Update 10/29/2020: ok, I was critical. No rating change. The real problem is that you have to sand it until it wears off and then you get dark ink, not as dark as my old ones. And my old one cost twice as much! just found it on aliexpress. , but it takes a month to get it!

This is an excellent product and suitable for all skill levels. I've only had it for a few days and use it instead of other, more expensive sticks. It grinds easily in ceramic and stone suzuri and produces a rich, dark blue ink capable of expressive gradation. The factory that still makes them by hand is a marvel. Highly recommended.
