Big size and performance

UPDATE: This pump has been running for a little over a week and the water flow has dropped slightly. Its timer turns on and off twice a day, running for about 1 hour in each cycle. Today he did not turn on in the daily cycle. I took it apart, cleaned it and it worked again. The block is larger than expected, but it easily hides behind the scenes and against the black background. Runs very quietly and moves great on the water. The circulation in a 48 inch tank is great and moves detrite from the

Not the best Hydor pump, poor flow

Bought several of these for my 90 gallons. Reef tank in 2016 with older Hydor Koralia third pump. On the plus side, they're quiet. However, they don't produce much flux, and what they produce spreads very widely and scatters it further. Two of them will not provide enough flow in a 90 gallon tank. The old pump recently failed after 5 years and I replaced it with a Hydor Koralia Evolution 1400-1500 GPH pump which produces more than double the circulation compared to the 3rd generation 3G pumps…

Great upgrade over previous models

I've been using Koralia Hydor pumps since they were introduced, maybe 2006 or so. We have had many of these in our aquariums and eventually they will burn out/fall apart. I bought this to replace the one we've been using since about 2007. The improved design where the entire pump detaches from the magnet works well and is really easy to clean. The old style was more difficult. This design also has a more diffused flow, but as we are using it in a reef tank this is desirable. We are left with…

Didn't last 2 months

My circulation pump stopped working after a month. I took it off and cleaned it, after that it worked for a few more weeks and then stopped working again. I took it out, cleaned it again, and this time when I lowered the pump back into the water, the water shook me. I unplugged the pump, the water was safe, then I plugged the pump back in and the water in my tank shocked me again. I'm still waiting for a reply to my email from Hydor. This was the worst aquarium product experience I have ever…

Near perfect, needs some tweaking

My only criticism of this power head is the strength of the magnets. I have a 125 gallon tank with 1/2" glass. This power head (according to the manufacturer) claims it will work fine in this scenario, but the magnet barely holds. If you decide to change the direction of the power head (if you have a 1/2" jar), you need to put both hands in the tank, hold the mount with one hand, and move the head itself with the other hand. How often do I change the direction of flow in my tank? Well it's a…

Big improvement for aquarium pumps and filters

This pump has everything the previous model didn't have. This new attachment system is great, you can aim almost anywhere. Hydor has fixed all the defects in the latest model, including cracks in the case that could have leaked a small charge into the aquarium. This is very deceptive, but all flow rates on all circulators are higher than what you can achieve in the real world. This type of pump is designed to create a wide, smoother flow. Therefore, the further away you are from the pump, the…

Not better than the previous generation, but ok.

Arrived on 11/02/20. I put 2 of these 3rd gen Hydors in my 125g. The magnets are weaker than the previous generation. Hydor, so I had to put them to one side of the aquarium. The old Hydor magnets were stronger and I could fit one on each side because they were strong enough to snag when one of the wires needed to be routed around my spill box. This means that unless you have an older Hydor, if you tug on the power cord a little it will LIGHTLY pop out of position. I have 1350gph models and…
