If you don't like fish soup, use it with a controller!

I bought this for a 2.5 gallon battle tank. The 25 watt cobalt neothermal heater I used in an old nano reef tank didn't work as well in low flow tanks so I settled on the 25 watt Hydor. I have a temperature sensor and aquarium controller in the aquarium to monitor temperature and control lighting and at first the Hydor seemed to work fine and heat the aquarium slightly. Unfortunately the temp continued to rise even though it was set at 77. If my aquarium controller hadn't cut it off at 80…

Works great - until they fry your fish

I have had several of these heaters over the years. They worked great for my 3-6 gallon betta tanks. I like that they have controls while most heaters of this size have presets. The temp might be a few degrees higher than I set, especially on 3 gallon tanks, but that's easy to explain. They kept my aquariums at a consistent temperature, which was my number one goal as temperatures in my home fluctuate wildly, especially in the winter. The first heater I received immediately showed signs of condensation inside. Revain immediately sent a replacement overnight. 2 works fine. But part of the thermometer is far away. I have a 5 gallon spec. And yes, I poked a few tiny holes in the exit tube. The heater fits well in this compartment. And heats up the aquarium. But to get a temperature of 80-82 degrees for my rooster I have to set the scale at around 72-73, so that's a huge difference. Maybe it would be more accurate if I took a…
