Not recommended for portable AV

I bought this antenna to see if it would perform better than the original Boafeng UV-5R antenna, but unfortunately this antenna is just looks and nothing more. P43X

Pros
  • Stylish and modern design
Cons
  • Crumpled

Big improvement over the original antenna

BIG improvement over the useless rubber ducky that comes with Baofeng. almost as good as my K Storm. Good for dropping a jeep without worrying about it bending/breaking.

  • Best
Cons
  • functionality

DURABLE FOR MILSIM AND LONG TIME GAMING

I use this for airsoft and it's reliable and essential gear if you play all day. Pair your UV5R with PTT and some Howard Leights and your style. 10/10 I would recommend to a friend.

Pros
  • Comfortable
Cons
  • Some bugs

I was positively surprised!

My expectations were quite low because it's a cheap antenna, but when I tested it I was very surprised. At a frequency of 146 MHz and with the antenna extended, the SWR was 1.89, and when folded - 4.3. At 435MHz, rippled or stretched, the SWR was around 1.38-1.4. I may have to buy a few more!

Pros
  • Pleasant to use
Cons
  • Negative present

Excellent high gain antenna.

Works exactly as advertised. Ideal for removing the antenna. However, when the antenna is folded, it works like a short antenna. Needs to be expanded to get a high profit advantage. If you need more range in a tactical situation and have a lot more money to spend, get a VMAS. (Vest Mount Antenna System) These are still the best Baofeng UV82 antennas for the money.

Pros
  • Delivery was very quick
Cons
  • Questionable purchase for the elderly

Doesn't fit right

The antenna has a proper SMA mount but the beofeng has a plastic rim that sticks up about 1/8 inch. It uses a standard antenna to ensure full contact. The base of the antenna is too wide to fit inside. As a result, there is a chance that she will make proper contact. This can also explain the alternation between good and bad answers. Full Disclosure: I'm using the Beofeng RTP version, but I believe all 5 series are the same form factor. Just to confirm, doesn't work for me.

Pros
  • Great for a small house
Cons
  • Fairly good

Great working antenna

This is a great addition to any radio. I have a Baofeng Uv5r+ and it works great. It works in two parts. The bottom of the antenna unscrews and you can use it as a nudge antenna, or you can leave the top whip antenna screwed on for longer range. I have at least another quarter to half mile range near full extent. The great thing is that you can use it when folded like the picture (fold once or twice), just depends on personal preference. Would definitely buy again

Pros
  • Weight
Cons
  • Some little things

Good gain, solid, doesn't bother

I have two Baofeng radios, one with Nagoya (which I consider the gold standard in antennas) and one with a standard antenna. I wanted to replace the standard radio which wasn't as expensive as the Nagoya but worked just as well. When I walked in I thought it was impossible, and I was right. But this antenna comes pretty close. I borrowed from a friend from Baofeng who also owns a Nagoya and did a parallel test with my son and our local park. I sat with both walkie talkies while he walked…

Pros
  • That's great
Cons
  • Some bugs
