Great pancake box for mounting on narrow walls

This pancake box worked very well for easy installation with minimal clearance due to the pile of rubbish behind drywall. The installation went smoothly, although no instructions were included. Unfortunately, the actual box I received was slightly different than the one shown on Revain (one mounting screw instead of the two shown on the manufacturer's website). Also, the lack of instructions made it difficult to understand why two different screws (of different lengths) were included in the…

spiders in the ceiling?

I'm dealing with a duct about 1" above the drywall, so I need a flat box that can be installed without a frame. It's not like this. There are no installation instructions, but I'm fairly familiar with various types of old work boxes, so I figured I could get these to work. Apparently not - after screwing in the screw on the back as in the picture and carefully aligning the box with the bracket on the ceiling (spikes down) I tightened the nut only to find the box spinning instead getting caught…

Pros
  • Excellent overall performance
Cons
  • Something else

The product itself is good. However, it is difficult to align this wall light so that it sits flush with the wall unlike other vintage work drawers. This carries quite a bit of weight as the metal is very strong and the box itself is well constructed. I used this to connect the NM cable I ran from an old junction box. Just remember you will need to purchase a punch plug from your local big box store (or Amazon). Otherwise I installed a sconce and can't see where it isn't flush with the wall…

Cons

Major design flaws in electrical equipment

The pipe was right in the wall where I needed the junction box and there wasn't a bolt nearby. It's heavy and solved the problem, but there are serious drawbacks. Is it expensive. Also, compared to the instruction videos I watched, the manufacturer changed the rear serrated mount to a mount with a single center screw instead of two shorter staggered screws. This made the handle weaker and more difficult to install as you have to keep the claw attached with 1 LONG screw while trying to insert it

Pros
  • Easy to use
Cons
  • Concise instructions

Difficult and expensive but got the job done so I'm satisfied

Like many of you I had the problem of removing an old light fixture only to find there was no junction box behind it and also a pipe , leaving no room for a junction box. When I saw this flat box I thought it might work. There are no instructions but here is what I did. Attach the tine bracket to the round box with a long screw. The projectile goes into the 4" hole you cut, the mount is behind the wall, the teeth dig into the wall as you tighten the screw. The shorter screw didn't work for me…
