My size XL (42"-44") was marked XL and it's actually too small for my 38" waist. In my 73 years I don't measure my waist size in ANY clothes I wear bought reduced by 6-8". This is the most uncomfortable thermal underwear I have ever had. They're light enough for the cold to seep through my sweatpants and thermals. The strap at the top is very stiff and cuts into my skin, although they fit well, I'm the same size I usually wear and they are very small. I love them loose and they are quite tight.
