Good fuse holder, blown fuse

The fuse holder looks well built with well fitting end caps and terminals but the included 40A fuse blew (works) after 10 days of use no longer). A load. It "didn't fly" and opening the fuse revealed that one end of the fuse link inside the fuse was not connected to the end cap.

Pros
  • Great for a small house
Cons
  • Not bad but...

Good value for money. Amplifier installation instructions

Good value for money. I have used it as the main fuse in a car's remote start system that draws 30 amps max. It might be an exaggeration, but I didn't want to trust the blade fuse holder, especially under the hood. It is of normal quality and appears to be good value for money. If I was in the business of installing a quality stereo system, I might look for something better. But that's fine for a utility class.

Pros
  • GOLS certification
Cons
  • Operating speed

Great fuse holder when installing an amplifier

Ideal for a built in fuse for a sound system or other type of power cable. Mine has stayed in the engine bay for a long time with no problems. But one day I hit him with a can of brake cleaner. He chewed through the plastic and broke it. It was entirely my fault and not a common use case. I bought another replacement because they work great. Just avoid hitting them with anything that eats paint/plastic.

  • Handy item

Does the job of installing an amp

This is a fuse holder, it does the job. I replaced the original fuse that came with the kit as it had not blown but was not passing any voltage. I replaced it with a new gold plated one and everything worked great. UPDATE: The fuse holder doesn't make a good connection. it works fine for about 2 weeks, then it fails and the system doesn't work. I remove and then screw the fuse back in and it works again. I would like to replace them if possible.

Pros
  • High marks for support and durability from testers
Cons
  • Hard to say

Pretty good for the price

For the price this is a well designed fuse holder. The sockets with the fuse have spring tongues to ensure good contact. On the wire side, the sockets have socket head screws and inserts for different wire sizes. The O-rings and wire seals on the lids seem to keep the inside clean. The only thing that worries me is the durability of the plastic case at engine compartment temperatures. After a month of use I am very satisfied with the design and performance.

Pros
  • Certified
Cons
  • Drill Pack

Tested with 2 units and none of them could handle more than 25A at 12V

We have used them to power our batteries from the Victron Solar MPPT unit at 12V. The solar charger is rated at 35A, so we figured a 40A fuse would be sufficient. Unfortunately the resistance at the fuse end sockets seems to be too high and so heat begins to build up until the fuse de-solders and/or the plastic caps begin to melt. The block above took about 6 hours. The previous one lasted about 4 months. Today I switched to a Bussman 185 series jackhammer and hope it works better.

Pros
  • Stylish and modern design
Cons
  • Almost everything is fine

Affordable security

VERY easy to place close to your main power source. I use REAL 8 gauge wire, not the "8 gauge" BS wire that you get in the wire kit. The wire harness MAY use 12 gauge in a giant insulator (the red plastic housing that the wire goes through) and therefore the ends of these fuses will have a gap between the wire jacket and the lug. Therefore 4 stars. But it's easy to connect and place and gives me peace of mind that I won't short out the battery if something goes wrong. Which I doubt, but better…

Pros
  • Ideal for outdoor activities
Cons
  • Quality

Poor Quality Fuses: Car Audio/Video System

I have ordered three of these fuse holders (two 40A and one 80A). The fuse holders themselves were fine, but of the two I installed (one 80A and one 40A), both fuses were blown. One fuse broke off the metal end before I installed it. The second blown fuse "looked" OK, but caused intermittent open circuits when installed. it was PITA for debugging and detection. I didn't install a third fuse holder, but I certainly wouldn't trust the cheap, low-quality fuse that came with it. I had to order…

Pros
  • Heavy Duty High Temperature Base
Cons
  • Good but Not Great

High quality. Inexpensive. Pretty good.

I liked the built in AGU InstallGear 8/10 AWG fuse holder. It appears to be made of high quality plastic. Even some of the more expensive types of fuse holders like this one are made out of very brittle plastic, but this one appears to be good quality plastic. Considering the plastic heats up where I placed mine, I think that's important. The screwdrivers are also of high quality and the plating seems adequate. The same with the fuse. For the price, I think this might be my new brand as Monster

Pros
  • AGU 8 or 10 gauge fuse holder
Cons
  • Cable is shorter than other picks

Fits my 10 kit!

The 10 gauge wire harness that came with my sub woofer had a cheap blade fuse holder with a 40 amp fuse. After using my audio system for six months, this fuse melted and my subwoofer started turning on. / off during my ride. This barrel backup from InstallGear is a much needed upgrade! I have great confidence in this product, I cut off that cheap fuse holder and installed this in seconds. It has o-rings where it touches the wire and concealed screws to keep water and dust out and set screws…

  • Crystal clear body
Cons
