The metal band is tight and reliable. Very comfortable (especially compared to most metal watches which can snag on the skin) but I highly recommend getting a larger strap. I bought a smaller one as my wrists aren't very big, but I needed a larger strap as it's quite difficult to remove completely. Thanks to the large strap, you can easily slip your hand in without completely removing the clasp. even take it off.

Update: So yes, I've had a few issues with this strap on fluffy or knit sweaters, but I don't think there's anything the manufacturer can do about it - it's just the nature of the mesh metal strap.
