Ideal USB switch for all-in-one printer/scanner/copier/fax sharing

I'm an IT professional. This switch is the perfect solution for my SOHO customers who want to evenly distribute ALL the functionality of a USB all-in-one printer/scanner/fax/copier to two separate computers that are within 20 feet of each other. Many all-in-one printers do not have an internal Ethernet card, allowing other network users equal access to all printer/scanner/fax/copier functions. Thus, when setting up a multifunction printer via USB, only one host computer has access to all…

What did your mom always tell you about sharing?

BACKGROUND: Me, meaning we share an HP printer/copier/scanner and it works fine. On the other hand, our home office doesn't work so well. As it turned out, this is a problem with Windows XP. You see I have set up computers on the network and it works great. With one caveat, you can't share a scanner on XP. You can share everything else but not the scanner. And boy do I scan a lot. So over the network we can share the printer, but when I want to scan I have to disconnect it from a computer and…

Creates more problems than it solves.

I bought this unit to share a printer between my two computers. One runs Windows XP and the other Vista Home Premium. Setup was easy and the printer works great. Switching is automatic, so I can even "hide” the switch. Why am I only giving this device one star? Easy. After spending over two weeks trying to figure out why my XP machine is no longer recognizing my digital cameras or flash drives, I traced the problem to this switch. Removing this switch from my system returned everything to…

Works, but is it really USB 2.0?

The functionality meets my expectations - two computers can easily share one USB peripheral. Issues: 1) Bundled software that allows you to control the switch from your desktop without touching the switch itself (even reminds you that someone is using the printer/device and asks you to confirm what might be the work interrupts) DOES NOT WORK with Vista x64 (not sure on 32); I found this out after two calls to their support line when the software would not install on my computer. There's…
