Works on latest Macbook

Follow the instructions on militarycac.com and it will work fine on the latest Mac OS (I wasn't sure if it would).

Pros
  • Impressive
Cons
  • Has quirks

Garbage Save your money

The product worked for a day and then there is a communication error all the time. Tried to return under the "3 year" warranty. I'm still waiting for a response from support (without holding my breath). I would never buy an iogear product again as they don't honor any guarantees or provide support.

Pros
  • Fingers crossed
Cons
  • Appearance

I am a Department of Defense Cybersecurity Engineer and if you can get this to work on your Macbook or Windows this will work. I am currently using this reader on Win10 and Mojave OS via VirtualBox and it works great. I can do whatever I need to do without having to deal with a crappy NMCI laptop. Highly recommended.

Pros
  • Newly invented

AFTER ALL! A CAC reader that works with my Chromebook!

I have had several CAC readers over the years which have given me varying degrees of reliability with my Windows and Mac laptops; However, this is the first (and only) CAC reader that works with my Chromebook. It was literally plug and play with my Samsung Chromebook V2 and my Samsung Galaxy Chromebook. I work from home a lot now and it's nice to be able to easily access my restricted websites (.mil) from my Chromebook. LOVE IT!

Pros
  • Special Offer
Cons
  • No Insurance

Good form factor but unreliable with Mac OSX Cataline

I bought this to replace my previous CAC reader for my MacBook Pro which was not USB-C and therefore required a dongle. I was happy when I received it for the first time. It worked initially, but Mac OSX Catalina didn't recognize it about 90% of the time. Rebooting multiple times finds the device often, but I've reverted to my previous dongle reader. Technical support does not help. The device seems to work well with Windows, so if you have a Windows PC and USBC it might be a good buy, but if…

Pros
  • Good product for its price
Cons
  • Ok
