Siphons Power supply: Single-board computer

Useless. Why on earth would an on/off switch draw current? Plugged into my Pi, the Pi barely has enough juice to work and there isn't enough juice on the connected external drive to work and be recognized as connected. Remove the switch and voila, everything works again.

Pros
  • Everything is fine!
Cons
  • Long wait

Doesn't work with raspberry pie

Don't ignore bad reviews. I made this because I thought it would be so easy it would be hard to screw up, but it doesn't work with raspberry pie. I have a red power light but it never started. I've tried this several times just in case, but it never worked. I'm sending it back and trying another brand.

Pros
  • Decent performance
Cons
  • Modern

Good price for a good switch

Good price good switch. I see complaints that there's no indication of whether it's on or off, but that's not a problem in my opinion. When your Pi is not powered on, the switch is in the off position. If it's on then go. The switch works perfectly, no problems and for the price definitely recommended.

Pros
  • is clear even the old
Cons
  • operating speed

Does not work with phone chargers

Does not contain a proper USB-C chip and cannot be used with most phone chargers or smart USBC chargers. This only works with the official Pi power supply or USB-A to USB Type-C cable. Be careful with the PI 4, it really needs the full 3 amps of power and it needs an official or verified high quality power supply.

Pros
  • Cool
Cons
  • Fast OK

Switch minimally shows whether it's on or off

One of the most important characteristics of a switch is its ability to tell if it's on or off. This switch won't help you much there. This switch looks the same in the ON or OFF position, except for a slight difference in key height. You have to look pretty closely at the black-on-black switch to realize that UP is on (or was it DOWN?-). You really need an LED to show the state of the switch. The attached pictures show the switch in ON and OFF state.

Pros
  • There's something to that
Cons
  • Minor issues

Doesn't work with phone chargers

the vast majority of phone chargers or any USBC smart charger. This only works with the official Pi power adapter or USB-A to USB Type-C cable. Be careful with the PI 4, it really needs the full 3 amps of power and it needs an official or verified high quality power supply.

Switch gives minimal indication of on or off

One of the most important characteristics of a switch is its ability to detect whether it is on or off. This switch won't help you much there. This switch looks the same in the ON or OFF position, except for a slight difference in button height. You have to look pretty closely at the black-on-black switch to realize that UP is on (or was it DOWN?-). You really need an LED to show the state of the switch. The attached pictures show the switch in ON and OFF states.

Pros
  • Turn on/off with a single switch. Significantly reduces wear and tear on sensitive MicroUSB connectors
Cons
  • There are even more interesting options.
