Description of 🔪 John Boos Maple Classic Chopping Block - Reversible End Grain 20x15x2.25

John Boos Block CCB2015-225 Classic Reversible Maple Wood End Grain Chopping Block measures 20 inches long, 15 inches wide and 2.25 inches thick. Made in the USA: Each John Boos Butcher Block and Cutting Board is proudly made in Effingham, Illinois by skilled craftspeople using time honored techniques since 1887. Butcher block is made from sustainably sourced, hand-selected Northern Hard Rock Maple Wood- widely recognized as one of finest, most durable food preparation surfaces in the world. This reversible butcher block features End Grain construction, resulting in John Boos' iconic checkerboard cutting surface with professional grade durability. Care: hand wash and dry. Apply John Boos Mystery Oil regularly (more often in dry climates, and when the board is brand new), use John Boos Board Cream to seal the wood surface after applying Mystery Oil. Oil and cream sold separately on Amazon. The Professional Choice: Often imitated, Boos Boards and blocks are the preferred cutting surfaces of top chefs and restaurants around the world. Safe for fine cutlery: Wooden cutting boards are easier on knives than plastic boards (which can dull knives more quickly).

Extremely poor quality

I bought this board in 2016. After 2 years, the board actually separated. Boos Co. replaced the circuit board when I sent a photo of the damage. The board split again in several places. There is no need to contact the company again. However, potential buyers should be aware that this is poor quality for the price. 1 year warranty.

Pros
  • Absolutely amazing!

The board split after a month of use and proper care

This is a beautiful cutting board and I bought this a month ago thinking it was very strong with end pile. Unfortunately, despite the application of Boos Boardcreme and careful maintenance, it already broke. I have never left a review before and was hoping to speak to a customer service representative but could not find a way to contact the seller.

  • GOLS certificate

Looked great when it arrived

Looked great when it arrived. Unfortunately, my husband was so thrilled with his expensive new cutting board that he didn't take it out of the plastic for weeks after it was given to him (because he didn't want to "ruin" it), making it non-returnable because I was late am. Upon opening, he found three tears under the body of the paper, going all the way through the 2-inch block. I'm angry that I spend so much money on a cutting board and it turns out to be junk. I buy about 90% of my gifts and…

Bad cutting board or bad company

Bought this cutting board a few years ago and it started cracking right away. I've treated it monthly with Boos Mystery Oil but it kept cracking. A crack is now 4" long and 1/8" wide. I emailed Boos a picture of the problem last week and their solution was to apply wood glue to the crack and seal it overnight. I tried their solution and before I could close the crack the entire corner broke off as you can see in the bracket picture. This is my second Boos end grain cutting board, same problem…

High quality cutting board

This block is one of the best cutting boards on the market. I had a similar one in my old house which was part of the island I left behind when we sold the house. He used to constantly cut vegetables and roll dough for more than 15 years. We sanded it down, treated it with edible mineral oil and sanded it down before showing the house to potential buyers and it has held up well. This new device will probably last as long as I've started refinishing it with mineral oil to keep it working. My…

Rejection on day 57 despite departure. So sad because it's so beautiful.

Very annoying. Cracked after 57 days with EXTREMELY careful and proper care. I've oiled the cutting board, waxed it, kept it dry, and wiped it down after EVERY use and DURING use, and yet it cracked less than two months after purchase. I cook almost every day but as the pictures show it was treated in an exemplary manner. It still cracked. I don't know what else to say, except when I'm paying close to $200 for a cutting board I expect it to last a very, very long time, 57 days isn't quite…

COMPLETE FAILURE ALMOST IMMEDIATELY

Product: Our boos board began to warp and fall apart almost immediately out of the box. This board has been properly maintained with Boos products. No water immersion or any ownership factors involved in its failure. It should be noted that after our board failed we have investigated here and on the web where we have found many customers with the same complaints, some have provided photos in their reviews depicting the same issues as our failed product, Have used GOOGLE and read the reviews…

  • Very good value for money

John Boos Maple End Grain Cutting Board, 20" x 15" x 2.25" I've been looking at this for a year. It sold for $185-$125 and I jumped. I cook every day. I've been watching this board for over a year. I haven't gotten around to reading these reviews. I'm skeptical of reviews and this is my second review. Let me tell you how disappointed I am. Not once, not twice, but three times. This board isn't for anyone. I know Boos and I told him not to put hot clothes on him. Don't let water get on it. It's…

Love this cutting board

I love this cutting board. attractive, strong, in the sense that the board does not move when cutting. There have been many complaints about this board. I had no problems. I apply the cream to the board once a week as recommended. And I don't let it soak in soapy water. Simply wash with soap and water and let dry. I don't know why there are so many complaints. But I know that wood will crack if not cared for properly. NO soaking in soapy water, NO exposure to harsh detergents, and anything with
