What a simple fix, take out the old pump and put in the new one. There is no need to replace hoses, fittings or anything else. Connecting the electrical wires was a hassle, but with a pair of waterproof connectors, it didn't take long at all.

Replaced with this one last month. It seems to me that the impeller is slightly larger than the original, so when the float switch is turned on, the impeller doesn't spin because it gets stuck on the housing. It's probably easy to fix this by just making the case bigger, but I didn't bother with the case. I decided to replace the entire system as the float switch was not working properly.

The engine that came to me has no model number. on it and the possible model numbers listed in the manual do not match my old pump. The one in the photo has the same model number. They look the same so I hope there will be no problem fitting the motor into the base. There is also confusion in the list of models and sizes of fuses. The box says 5 amps so I'll go with that, but the manual doesn't list the closest model. says 3 amps which I think could be for 500 gph.

I needed to replace the cartridge in my Johnson bilge pump. I have had very good luck with these cartridges over the years. They are much easier to replace than the entire bilge pump assembly should you ever fail. The only reason this pump failed was because it was not being used. My shaft is frozen.
