Waste of Money: Useless Smart Plug

I purchased this smart plug hoping to monitor my energy usage, but it barely even works. Tools and Home Improvement should not sell such low-quality products. Thanks to my knowledge gained in practice, I knew this product was a dud right out of the box. The only good thing about it is that it's small, but that doesn't make up for its lack of functionality. Save your money and invest in a better product.

Pros
  • Small size
Cons
  • Does not function properly, waste of money.

Updated review - it works now.

I'm updating this bad review I gave previously. I ended up buying a new router and resetting two of my Kasa Smart Plugs. Now they are back to work. I'll be following them for about a month and if they're still active I'll reevaluate my overall ranking. Set up the device and it worked fine for a month. Then he stopped working. I've called Kasa support and asked for troubleshooting advice many times, but nothing has helped. The lights on the device were not working according to the specifications

Pros
  • GOLS certified
Cons
  • Long delivery time

DO NOT USE FOR CONTINUOUS LOADS OVER 900 WATTS!

This plug is dangerous! Although its "rated power" is 15A and 1.8kW for "peak load", just under 1000W and 9A continuous load, this unit felt hot and exceeded 108*F. I can't imagine how this thing gets hot when you approach the maximum load. I can confirm that the load I'm monitoring is only about 975 watts and 8 amps with Kill-A-Watt, so I know for sure that I haven't exceeded the advertised limits. When the outside temperature of this device reached 108 degrees, I can't imagine how hot its…

Pros
  • Quality construction
Cons
  • Not reliable
