Fatal bug: intermittent restarts by powering off

Update It's still happening a year later, I've moved it to a less important task. First Review: This item had to be perfect. I set up and remote controlled all of the sockets individually without much difficulty. But after a few months it "rebooted" at least 5 or 6 times without warning. While it doesn't matter much for some applications, mine is connected to 3D printers as a safety mechanism to be able to shut them down remotely if needed, but the effect of one of those whole extension cord…

WiFi or security settings cannot be updated. DO NOT BUY.

The product does not support changing the WiFi password after programming. Forget about updating your password regularly, as recommended by all major authorities (like the Cyberand Infrastructure Security Agency). Devices /TP Link and reprogramming from scratch. All names, groups, everything disappears after making changes to WiFi. In this era of cybersecurity and the Internet of Things, how can companies bring such an imperfect product to market? Until this is fixed I strongly advise against…

Hs300 Power Strip Review

I really like the power strip and would recommend it to anyone looking for a 'smart' power strip with remote access that allows you to quickly turn each of the 6 outlets on and off. It also has power monitoring features that allow you to quickly see how much power a particular outlet is using. ProsEasy setupEasy to useSimple UI to remotely turn the outlet on and offSet up schedules to turn the outlet on and offSet a timerEasy power monitoringConsPower monitoring is very limited - power…

Good extension cord - great price

First of all this is an extension cord / surge protector, it has six outlets and three USB ports. The plug is a 'flat' design with the cord coming out of the plug at an angle, this allows furniture to be placed closer to the wall but is a bit annoying if you want the strip to be on the left side of the Socket sticks inside. If it had a rotating fork design it would have been five stars. The great value here is that it's a smart strip, with each of the six outlets being a separate smart switch…

Ideal for My Reef Tank

Recently inherited a reef tank. The previous owner gave me his programmable aquarium expander, but I decided to replace it with this one. PERFECT SOLUTION. I should pat myself on the back. Pros: 1. I can turn each outlet on and off individually from my phone. No more reaching for the back of the aquarium stand when I want to turn off certain components when changing water.2. I can set a timer for each outlet on my phone. Much simpler interface than any time switch.3. I can see the power of each

Pros
  • Good product for its price

Easiest setup among smart devices I've used

The ease of use of this device is its best feature. I've been using the 2-way plug for a few weeks now and I liked it so much that I bought an extension cord. I liked it so much that I ordered 2 more, one for home use and one as a gift for my tech-savvy mom. Seamless integration with Alexa. I can say, "Alexa, turn on the fan" without having to say, "Alexa, ask Kasa to turn on the fan." The application makes it easy to name elements and place them on plans as needed. Unlike many smart home…

Beautiful but unreliable product

On first impression I was very impressed with the HS300 Smart Extender. Overall it seems physically well made - has some weight and doesn't slip. The app/UI is quite user-friendly and installation is a breeze. However, I am EXTREMELY dissatisfied with the reliability of this extender software. I bought this add-on solely for the purpose of remotely controlling my drip irrigation system and lighting up my greenhouse full of (expensive) colorful monstera while I'm away from the state for 3 weeks…

Well engineered for what it's engineered for. Basically

I bought this power strip to control my offline energy consumption. I would not recommend it for this purpose. First, the monitoring capabilities are minimal. You can track each socket individually, but you'll only see three numbers at a time: how much is currently being used, how much is being used per day, and how much is being used on average (but over what timeframe is unclear). . With no historical data available, you can't evaluate usage patterns or identify spikes without constantly…

  • Definitely a bad product
