Works great for computer components

These KeeYees 2 Pack ESP32 Upgrade Mini WiFi are very good WiFi modules. They are easy to flash and set up. I use this module to add WiFi to devices that I want to add to my Home Assistant setup. They are very easy to flash and start working without any problems, as long as you have a reliable power supply so that this module can stay plugged in all the time they work very well.

Voltage regulator is not enough to operate radios

Voltage regulator from 5V to 3.3V is only rated for 150mA. This means if you try to use the radio the supply voltage will drop and the device will reset the voltage. In other words, don't plan to use Wi-Fi or Bluetooth with this module if you are powering it from the USB port or the 5V pin on the connector.

High-quality circuit board, small voltage regulator

The circuit board is of high-quality workmanship and looks high-quality. For example, the circuit board is clearly marked and the solder joints are clean. The serial port works well and maintains maximum speed. The board has two pins, which makes it not compatible with a breadboard. Since the board comes with short headers, you can solder them on and then put jumpers in the headers. That makes it very useful. An under-specified voltage regulator will limit its reliability

As my Viennese colleagues have discovered, a 3.3V regulator connected to the USB interface can only supply 150mA when the ESP32 is in the worst case is designed for 500 mA. For this module, the only time that can make a big difference is WiFi transmission. You can run both CPU cores and at least one core plus bluetooth and *probably* be fine, or you can add a large "decoupling" capacitor, or your own regulated 3.3V supply, or replace the tiny regulator chip , but that's all unsatisfactory…

The board barely works with the voltage regulator on

I tested the board with an Arduino sketch that connects to WIFI, pulls data from a very small JSON API, and returns the result as a specific color on an addressable LED registered as a Neopixel. I had two address LEDs connected to VCC on this unit, so they didn't use a regulated 3.3V current. Problem 1 (minor): All labels are on the bottom of the board, which isn't a big problem.
