Description of πŸ•οΈ Kelty Late Start 2 Person Backpacking Tent (2019 Model): Top-rated portable shelter for outdoor adventures

Updated Version of Kelty Salida Tent. The tapered tent measures 85” x 54” (at its widest point), giving you an interior area of 29. 5 square feet. The peak height is 40 inches. There is a single vestibule protecting 7. 85 square feet of storage space. The two aluminum poles are pre-bent to create extra room inside the tent. Pockets at each corner of the tent keep one end of the pole secure as you move around to deal with the other end. The Late Start 2 tent has a single door. The walls are No-see-um mesh and the floor is tough 68 denier fabric, water resistant to 1800 mm. Internal storage includes a ceiling pocket. The tent body is protected by a waterproof 68 denier rainfly. All seams are sealed to keep the water out. The freestanding design means you can pitch the tent and then move it around to find the best site.

Great tent! - Camping & Hiking

This was the lightest tent I have ever put up. Spacious for a single tent. We showered the second night and I stayed dry. Not a drop of water in the tent. Great for hiking without spending $600 on an ultralight tent.

  • This is amazing

No ventilation in the rainfly

I love everything about this tent except the lack of a ventilation channel in the rainfly. I understand that there is a lot of airflow in the tent construction. probably normal under most conditions. My days were between 28 and 80 degrees Fahrenheit. I had a lot of condensation when I got up in the morning. Due to the shape of the tent, there were no drips on me. A large amount of condensation caused me to put away my wet raincoat and pack my things back every morning. Add ventilation and…

Great little tent! on Outdoor Recreation

For the price this was an exceptionally good tent. Very easy to set up and break down. I've only used it once but it seems to be quite durable. There was enough sleeping space for a single tent, but you probably wouldn't want to hang around there unnecessarily. If you are going car camping or can handle the weight I would definitely recommend going for the 2 person version of the tent. My only complaint is that the lobby created by the raincoat is a bit small, I wish it was a bit bigger. If…

Good for 1 person, terrible for 2 people

I bought the Late Start for 2p. The tent is of high quality and survived a fairly violent storm without leaking although the fact that the rain screen/roller shutter is aligned with the door made it very difficult to get in and out without soiling everything. The biggest problem is the only door/shutter. In such a small tent for two people you really need 2 doors / 2 vestibules. It was impossible to enter or exit the tent without stepping on (smearing with mud) the person closest to the door…

Great tent for the elements!

I have a somewhat old Coleman tent that I use for auto camping but it rained on my last trip and the tent was leaking a bit so I needed something more permanent. I chose this Kelty because I needed a large camping tent that I could still use for car camping. This tent has held up amazingly well! Went to Inks Lake near Burnet, Texas and the second day it rained followed by 20-25 mph winds for about 9 hours. My tent has never moved or leaked! The quality of the rods is excellent. The stakes look…

All in all a good tent with one problem

Bought one of these for a family bike ride. We just finished using it and I'm about to throw my thoughts away. Before that, however, I would like to tell you that I have spent about 35 years as an outdoor person, engaging in a variety of outdoor activities such as hunting, fishing, camping, biking, and hiking. I've had lightweight travel tents that go through wall tents with wood stoves. I've spent thousands of hours outdoors. I have used Kelty before and really like their products. Now a…
