Christmas Candle Stars

Perfect for one of our favorite Christmas crafts. When my husband was in Germany, we learned to decorate candles with thin strips of colored wax. Over the years we have done this project with children, my special education classes and now our grandchildren. People make beautiful candles by tearing them apart, cutting them with plastic knives or scissors, and/or using similar cutters. We use Stockmar decorative wax and IKEA candles.

  • Great Achievement

Inconsistent and you don't have to keep the cut shape

I'm disappointed in these picks - all shapes but especially sprockets - because Kemper makes good ceramic tools in general. These cutters are designed to cut a shape out of clay using a hole as the target instead of a clay cut. Each of the stars was different in that none of the dots corresponded. The largest star, which I used most often, had very rounded stellar "ends", while the smallest had very pointed ends; Doesn't help much when trying to remove a 1/4" pinion gear. The piston is just a…

Pros
  • High marks for grip and durability from testers
Cons
  • Not as thick as other picks

Love Me Some Kemper Klay Cutters! πŸ’—πŸ’—πŸ’—

I love my Kemper Cutter. I've been using them for polymer clay for many, many years. The assorted 3/16" are great for decorating miniatures. I use a teardrop shape for leaves and drape my unicorn sculpts with tendrils and leaves, use a cut flower to add a floral accent along with grapes or berries. But this is about stars. a who doesn't love stars? at the moment I'm using them for soap emojis. They cut thin soap just as wonderfully as polymer clay! They're great for positive or negative spaces.

Pros
  • Confident
Cons
  • Out of fashion
