VERY DISAPPOINTING good for cable protectors

Feels like cheap junk. The Kingston decals weren't even directly applied. It takes a few tries for the cable to fully retract.

Thief Eligible - Computer Accessories & Peripherals

After owning this product for several months I was happy and confident in its security, especially as it stopped an adventurous thief. But I was convinced it would stop someone more determined. Here I let the cocky guy with the pliers try to cut the cable. Imagine my horror when I heard "pinch". The result is good for security looks, bad if your local bully has pliers. gutted.

Anti-Theft

After owning this product for several months I was happy and confident in its safety, especially as it stopped an adventurous thief. But I was convinced it would stop someone more determined. If I could.

I didn't need much of it and wasn't expecting exceptional security. I use my own laptop for work and just wanted a padlock to secure it to my desk for added security for the night I leave my computer at the office. After a lot of effort, I put it in the Kensington lock slot of my Macbook Pro at home. But since I brought it to the office, I have yet to successfully install this lock on my computer. So yes it might work. But I'm wondering if the only time I've been able to use it was actually…

Great for what it is

Just received this lock and am very happy with it. Fits my HP with no problems. The castle got a bad rap from other reviewers in my opinion due to unrealistic expectations. I'm sure the cable can be broken easily, maybe even with a heavy pair of scissors. It's not a safe, but it's a deterrent to a would-be armed robber and should give you some insight if you leave it on the table for a few minutes when you go to the bathroom at Starbucks. That's all.
