Works with HP Pavilion

Now I can work efficiently! During the quarantine I was hampered by the lack of multiple monitors. I bought 3 other devices/docks while trying to connect additional monitors. Finally found this document. It is compatible with HP Pavilion laptops which are incompatible with many other docking stations.

Pros
  • 4 SuperSpeed USB 3.0 ports (backwards compatible with USB 2.0) that support high-speed data transfer up to 5Gbps and phone charging. 2 USB 2.0 ports for peripherals such as keyboards, mice, printers and other accessories. Gigabit (10/100/1000) Ethernet, external headphone and microphone jacks with Audio 20 for improved sound quality. Kensington Lock Slot for Dock Security
Cons
  • Not the best choice

Great price for a USB docking station.

Works great with my mid 2012 MacBook Pro. I had to install the DisplayLink app for it to work and the app feels a bit clunky but for the price (under $100) it's a awesome little hub. I've connected two hard drives, an HDMI monitor and a DisplayPort monitor, and wired ethernet, and everything works fine. Super happy.

Pros
  • Includes power adapter to power the docking station and all connections (laptop is not powered). Vesa mount capability (see Kensington mount bracket #K34050WW). Kensington lock slot (see Part No. K65035AM for compatible lock). For Macbooks with a USB-A port, download the latest DisplayLink drivers from the Displaylink website and make sure you have the latest version of macOS.
Cons
  • It's OK

Poor power supply to hard drive.

All I have a keyboard, mouse, ethernet, HDMI and the laptop itself. everything you would expect from a regular computer. I don't even charge my phone. But as soon as I plug in a 1TB drive, I get a Windows connected/disconnected signal about every three seconds. I had to unplug the hard drive and plug it into the laptop itself, which I feel defeats the purpose of a docking station. Kensington, if you can't make a dock that will power a simple hard drive, either make fewer ports or increaseโ€ฆ

Pros
  • Type A USB Universal Dock works with USB-A laptops and Surface Pro 7/6/5/4 Surface Laptop 3/2 and earlier MacBooks (Mac OS 10 14 and later) with USB-A port. The USB-A cable (included) from your laptop to the dock provides full connectivity, so your displays and peripherals can stay at home or in the office - just connect a USB-A cable and you're good to go.
Cons
  • Compatibility

Good, but there are better solutions

Works, but really annoying with my Surface Book 2 laptop. Almost always problems when I connect a new device to it. It's also not clear enough in the description that it doesn't charge a laptop. I probably wouldn't buy again.

Pros
  • Connection technology: Wired
Cons
  • Negative impression

Clamshell mode not working - mac

Clamshell mode not working on MacBook Pro (lid closed). It keeps identifying the built-in display and opens some apps on the built-in display when it is closed. Very buggy. The workarounds mentioned on the Displaylink site did NOT work. For a device designed specifically to extend monitors, this is a pretty poor job. Not good value for money.

Pros
  • High tester ratings for support and durability
Cons
  • Useless features

Great product and beats HP

If you have an HP laptop, don't buy an HP docking station. Useless. I bought it as a replacement, should have been my first choice. I had a small connection issue and the tech support was great at helping me get set up and up and running. I only had to buy one cable and now use two HP 25 monitors and my laptop monitor for a triple setup. Makes life so much easier when I'm trying to get work done.

Pros
  • Excellent overall performance
Cons
  • Doubt
