Description of 👣 Keratex KHP 200 Hoof Putty: Durable 200g Solution for Hoof Care and Repair

Keratex hoof putty is a unique malleable wax containing slow-release organic ingredients. Use to fill cavities left by and after removal of abscesses from the sole and conditions such as seedy toe. Work a piece of hoof putty between the fingers until it turns soft and tacky. Use a blunt tool to press softened hoof putty well into a cavity and build up until level with the surrounding horn/sole. Prevents grits and contaminants from entering the hoof; Can support tubes for flushing or draining cavities.

Works great: Sport

Keep warm before use, easy to use. Used it on a deep hoof abscess. Just make sure the abscess is completely drained and the wound is sterile before sealing. No need for bandages or plasters. I clean and change every day. Ready to apply glue to shoes. I will only change the Keratex if I change shoes.

Pros
  • Excellent overall performance
Cons
  • Everything is fine

Good for filling abscess holes.

I use this to fill holes in the soles of my horses hooves. It provides protection for areas of the sole of the foot that can become thin after an abscess. I find it difficult to work with wax material in cold weather. I soak the jar in warm water for about 10 minutes before attempting to work with it. This makes the filler smoother and easier to work with.

Pros
  • Best in Niche
Cons
  • Useless Features

Not for large holes or gaps.

Easy to scoop out with a spoon and plies like warm wax, which surprised me when some reviewers commented on how difficult it was to get out of the canister. I had high hopes for this product after reading the reviews, but it didn't stay in my horse's coffin cavity for more than an hour or so. It's still very warm here in Florida in September, so it might have something to do with the softness/failure to harden the product. waste of money.

Pros
  • Great construction
Cons
  • Hard to say

This product worked great. My new horse had big soles.

This product worked great. My new horse had a large hole in the sole and a metal treatment plate that treated a very deep abscess. I removed the treatment plate to trim the hoof and then put on a flexible hoof bandage/boot but this only lasted two weeks. This product enabled the horse to go barefoot and kept the build clean as it grew. Keeping the jar at room temperature, dig it up a bit, work with your hands and push it into the hole.

Pros
  • Durable finish
Cons
  • Questionable purchase for the elderly

Keeps dirt and moisture out of old and new nail holes

Okay, I've had a lot of horses. However, my top dressage guy has the worst hooves that have ever been hoofed on our many farms. It's good when Queen Elizabeth's HRM blacksmith swears by this product. I'll try! Application: This is not a putty but a waxy product. To use, tear thin "leaves" out of the jar - I actually used the top end of a wooden clothesline; Warm with fingertips and apply to each open hoof hole. In any case, the hooves look clean and tidy with this product. As the daughter of a…

Ideal for frayed fingers, sticks well

The thing sticks. My horse had a toe hole from a frayed toe so I cleaned it and filled it with it. This stuff has been stuck for more than 2 months without coming out; helps me protect my hoof from dirt and bacteria from the pasture. Her chipped toe was gone. The first photo was taken when I first applied Keratex hoof putty to the stain, the second after two visits to the blacksmith when they were able to isolate the remaining bacteria (the farrier left the putty on the first visit - yes, the…

My first 5 star review with usage details

Amazing stuff. There was a 1/4 inch opening where the abscess was drained. rinsed thoroughly with tap water (from a hose), used peroxide for 5 seconds, distilled water, peroxide for another 5 seconds, distilled water and then canned air to dry the hole. banks. continuously pushed small beads into the hole until the hole (dug by the vet and a little deep) was completely filled. he piled more and more and pushed everything into the hold until the surface of the putty was level with the sole…

Pros
  • Inspires confidence
Cons
  • Has issues

Hard as cement suitable for sport

Purchased due to using Keratex hoof sealant and very happy with how it has helped strengthen my horse's hooves as well as reviews of how great it is for abscesses in the hooves, My results on an old donkey with an abscess were NOT GOOD. The sealant said it would harden and become a protective seal, the problem was the material that had hardened from a small amount turned into a pea like stone that just got stuck in the hoof causing pain rather than comfort. The product was extremely difficult…

Pros
  • Stylish and modern design
