Buy keys from a retailer to save time and money.

I bought this key hoping to replace the one that came with the car, I had to take it to the dealer to have it programmed for $55 unfortunately they couldn't program it they said that he will turn on the car, but after a few seconds the car turns off again, and this key is only for unlocking the door. The real key I need is $180 plus a service charge. It would be wise to just buy the key from the dealer instead of wasting time and money. At least I have a spare key to open the door if I ever…

DO NOT BUY! The keys were sent with a defective transponder and do NOT work!

Bought these key fobs to replace a lost key on my 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited and they do not work. I took them to two different locksmiths I trust and none of them could program the car key because the key had a defective transponder. Before I'm asked, yes I matched the part number on my original key fob before placing the order. Now I don't have the extra $40 I had to pay the locksmiths to try to program the key. I don't recommend buying these keys and wasting your time and money only to

Worked great for me and no programming fees!

I am one of the lucky ones who still have the two original keys that came with the car (although they are old and partly broken). If you have both original keys, follow another user's instructions below. First you need to cut the key at a locksmith shop or hardware store. It cost me $4. Now I will buy my wife another spare key and then we will keep the two original keys in a drawer at home so that we can always reprogram them in the future if we lose one of these new ones (or take them…

You must have (2) original keys to program them yourself.

Works great and looks identical in design to the original keys. For self-programming it is necessary that you have two functioning original key fobs. I was fortunate enough to keep two of my original keys, although they have no buttons and only work when interacting properly with the circuit board. New keys must be made before you can complete the programming step. My local hardware store has cut keys for about $3.25 each. Programming was incredibly easy. Insert the original key #1. Turn on the
