Doesn't fit factory key

I ordered another replacement from another supplier that didn't have a Chevy tag. It fits perfectly with the factory key and circuit board. This factory key did not fit. Didn't have time to return it and order another. Had to modify this with a precision knife to allow the factory key to fit the case and turn as intended.

Pros
  • Best
Cons
  • No instructions

The key is difficult to take apart and difficult to put back together

The key is very difficult to open, you almost have to break it to open the key to carry the transmitter. It doesn't make sense for a small screwdriver because I had to use a flat head and butter knife to take the key apart. Why not send the key piece by piece so it's not that difficult to open? Uhhhh, my hand still hurts from opening the key.

Pros
  • Excellent design
Cons
  • Almost everything is fine

Different from the original Chevy Fob

Works fine in general, but when you try to swap the motherboard and key, the motherboard fits perfectly, but the key does not fit due to slight differences in the processing of the key lugs . I had to remove the pin from the old key, put it in the new socket and make a new roll pin as it won't fit due to the different finishing. All in all a good product would be perfect if they just replaced the motherboard and cut the key with a laser.

Pros
  • Fits me great
Cons
  • Some flaws

Get ready to copy your key

I needed a new key fob because one of mine had a worn button. I was hoping for a 1 for 1 replacement, it wasn't quite right. While it gets the job done, the parts are not interchangeable at all. The only thing that has been carried over from the old remote control is the inner workings. The metal key is even made differently, so it doesn't match the new bunch of keys. I still have to take my keys to the locksmith to have them cut as most blacksmith machines can't handle this type of specialized

Pros
  • Handy thing
Cons
  • I don't remember but there was something

Yes, it works, but it's not turnkey

Two things. Your factory key fob may be glued, so take your time to avoid damaging the circuit board inside. The side of the battery compartment cover may need to be pulled off and pryed off with pliers. Second, you cannot use the factory key and unlock button. You'll need to knock out the roll pin with a 1/16" punch (or cut a drill to make a punch). Change the key to a new hinge. Or maybe you have a key cut $$$$?. Insert the circuit board, key assembly, latch knob and spring into the back of…

Pros
  • good thing
Cons
  • poorly thought out
