Buy instead of going to the dealer!

My dealer wanted to charge me $275 for a 2007 Jeep Compass key. I ordered this for $20 and the dealer only charged me $40 for cutting and programming. The dealer will likely tell you that you need to get the key through them or that the key will likely not be programmed. You are wrong!

Pros
  • GOLS Certificate
Cons
  • Problem

Worth the price to make sure the key transmitter works.

. not in this case. Cut it at the dealer and programmed it with the original key and no problems since. Even the dealer was impressed as they usually cut keys that don't work with transmitters. Ideal as a spare key or replacement for your original key.

Pros
  • . Easy to use.
Cons
  • . I have doubts.

PERFECT REPLACEMENT!

I bought this key to replace a lost key from my 2013 Jeep Patriot. After I got the keys (I bought 2) I took them to the Jeep dealership and they charged me $20 each for programming and cutting new keys. So I paid a total of $90 for two spare keys. The locksmith wanted to charge me $250 for one. Also, the fee at the merchant is much higher if you don't bring your forms with you. This saved me a lot of money!

Pros
  • Quality construction
Cons
  • Very expensive

If you need a replacement key fob, do yourself a favor and get one.

My used Jeep Wrangler came with a key. The merchant ship charged $180 for the key and $60 for the cutting and programming. I got the part number for the key I had and found a key fob for only $20. They took it to a local battery store, cut it out and programmed it for $50. It works perfectly. I highly recommend getting one of these keys if you need one.

Pros
  • Ideal for a small home
Cons
  • Vulgarity

Dud, not programmable for keyless entry systems

key does not accept program from Jeep (Jeep Wrangler 2011). Battery replaced with no change. Look elsewhere. The seller sent a replacement. Spent over an hour on the phone trying to program it. The key does not accept programming from the vehicle. Their solution was that "there can't be anything wrong with our key, it has to be your car." They instructed me to take it to the dealer for over $100 programming. I bought another key on eBay, everything works. Stay away.

Pros
  • Satisfied
Cons
  • boring packaging

You need TWO working keys to do it yourself.

Otherwise you have to pay a little more. Funny, if I could find my second FOB I wouldn't have to buy that replacement. But it turns out that's the only way to program a new key fob yourself. However, when I received this replacement, I simply took it to my local Jeep dealership. After $40 it was cut and worked great. Now the retailer warned me before I started that about 25% of the online bought FOBs they receive couldn't be programmed - and that I'd still be on the hook for an installation fee

Pros
  • Impressive
Cons
  • Compatibility

This worked for my 2009 Jeep Wrangler. I bought 2 of these and both work. The shop that cut them for me didn't do a good job on one of them and it doesn't spin easily, but that's the shop's fault, not that distance. The remote control works perfectly. But I address one important point as an example to offer advice. BEFORE programming the key/remote control, make sure the key works mechanically well and turns easily in the door lock and ignition switch. Your car may have a maximum number of keys

Pros
  • Decent performance
Cons
  • weak

Great price on a Jeep replica key fob

Today we took this key fob to the locksmith shop to be cut and programmed. He had no problems with this keychain. You will need your jeep pin code which you can get from the dealer so they can program this key if you don't have one. If you already have two working fobs, you can buy a third fob and program it yourself, saving you the programming fee. Dealers change a lot for this, so go shopping. It only costs about $3 to cut, and programming can range from $80 to $120. I called around and it…

Pros
  • One year trial
Cons
  • Poorly thought out

Went to the dealer!

You may find cheaper versions of this product, but note that it comes with a battery and chip. unlock my door. I ended up cutting a key on the popular Key Me machine and trying to program it myself. This was not possible on my own as I found that my Jeep requires two already programmed keys in order to program a new key. I called the number from the Key-Me machine and was charged $150 to program my key. The locksmith called me an hour before the scheduled time and said he wasn't sure if he…
