Too boring, too soon.

Klein Tools. You love her, but in the end you don't. It was a great stripper for a few weeks but after moderate use it just lost the cutter sharpness too much, it has a hard time cutting Cat6 and 18/4. Even the actual stripping parts have faded, and to be honest I know for a fact that I don't use my wire stripper as much as other electricians. The metal is not very strong and dulls easily. Not worth the dollar if it was $5 cheaper, better but still. Spend the extra money and get a better one…

Klein Tools 1019 Klein Curve Wire Stripper

Me - A If it's not Klein it's not my type and I bought these a while ago for some electronics work and when I got them I quickly realized that they didn't have a spring on them and it's a deal breaker for me and renders them almost useless! I'd bet money the picture shows a feather, but no. They work, yes, but it's a hassle to manually open them after each Ya Strip wire (at least for me), so I'm now halfway to buying another set of small size strippers and being 100% sure that they have Spring!

Pros
  • Confident
Cons
  • Fading

The only thing I didn't like was that it wasn't a spring opening, but the benefit far outweighs the dislike. Over time you will get used to it and develop your own way of using it. Now I just browse websites looking for things to undress. With that much sweeping power comes a lot of clearing responsibility. This special little tool pulls everything down and leaves nothing to the imagination about what's underneath this jacket. You too can become a striptease master by paying around $20, and…

stripes, but the cutting ability is terrible.

I bought these primarily for the sheer number of stripping options, primarily for small control wires and cables. I also appreciate that they are made in the USA and appreciate most Klein hand tools. As a licensed installer I work with many industrial motor controllers. These wire strippers are great for regular power cords and small wires in cords. Unfortunately they will not cut pure stranded wire over 18 AWG. Wire cutters cut some small strands of wire, but mostly bend them. In addition…

Not enough spring to hold tool open for use

Prior to this purchase, I had excellent experiences with Klein tools. This tool is used for stripping, cutting and crimping, so the starting position for use is with the jaws open. All previous stripping/crimping/cutting tools had a spring to open the jaws after use. This small instrument must be opened manually after each use. It takes time and strains hands and fingers after long-term use. The lack of a return spring makes this tool a poor choice for those who use it regularly and not for…
