Metal Tarnish

Retractable Stopper easy to install but metal surface will tarnish; I have to polish it every month to keep it shiny. Kohler also offers a stainless steel alternative, but it's correspondingly more expensive.

Pros
  • This is Amazing
Cons
  • No Mold Required

Always check the size you need

I needed 3 of these to replace the faded ones. However, not all are the same size. After they didn't fit, I had to call Kohler and send pictures. Much more expensive than these and apparently only with a chrome finish. We'll see when they arrive and hope they fit as the newly ordered ones are the only ones that fit the sink installed in 2006.

Pros
  • Sturdy construction
Cons
  • Can I add something?

Not metal, custom size

As plastic parts shed threads over time, I ordered this one. While the ribs were metal for some reason, the rod that screws into the cap is still plastic and can still lose threads after a few years. I also thought the plums on the sinks were a standard size. All sinks, Kohler or otherwise, that I have worked with have always used a standard plunger part. This is custom size. This may be the new standard, but if you have a broken sink this may not be what you need.

Pros
  • Always liked
Cons
  • I don't have much animosity about it, everything is fine

If you just want to replace the eye bolt.

Like many people, I bought this part to replace a broken nylon eye bolt in my old drain piston. This part is chrome and is half the price of the brushed nickel part. The good news is that the top unscrews and disassembles easily to replace my original brushed nickel part with this one. UPDATE: I later found out that you don't need to buy a complete plug as the threaded eyelet is available as a spare. . Kohler doesn't make it easy to find this part. Even my local design center, Kohler, had no…

Pros
  • Durable finish
Cons
  • Expensive

The old plug broke at the bottom of the threaded shaft after seven years of daily use. I took it off to find the part number and left it open for a day. In fact, my wife lost the family earring! I looked up my sink model on the Kohler website at www.Kohler.com/ServiceParts. Find Bathroom > Bathroom Faucets > Vanity Faucets. That helped, but my model used NINE stoppers! So I measured the size of my old part and then compared it to the new parts available on the Kohler website. The part I…
