The Best Brake Inserts

These are the ultimate brake inserts for sport cycling - they're reliable, lightweight and affordable. They provide excellent stopping power even in wet conditions. They're easy to install and their durability is unmatched. The only downside is that they tend to squeal a little bit when breaking hard, but that's not a big deal. I highly recommend these brake inserts to anyone serious about their sports and outdoors activities.

Pros
  • Durable and long-lasting.
Cons
  • Pricier than other replacement inserts on the market.

The best mousetrap is good for Brake pads

The original "carbon" brake pads did two things: (1) wear out quickly; (2) Damn much noise. Installing a set of Kool-Stop brake pads combined with a thorough cleaning of all associated parts (calipers, braking surfaces) eliminated the squeak and it appears that these pads will last much longer than the pads they replaced.

Pros
  • Shimano XTR 2011 with spring
Cons
  • Minor issues

Don't trust these enough

I have a set of PZ Racing DR 1.1 clincher tires with a full carbon rim and smooth carbon braking surface, paired with Shimano 105 5800 11 speed calipers I'm prone to icing very quickly, even with the right brake spring. I would do without it on long downhills, even if you only ride on dry days on the flat, especially in traffic. I was able to lock up my wheels by using the brakes hard with them on descents, as the lack of modulation caused tire slip that could have been avoided entirely withโ€ฆ

Pros
  • Country of origin: USA
Cons
  • Minor issues
