Smaller hex nut frees up space and copper plate reduces corrosion

These are great for those having trouble getting to the exhaust manifold nuts on an air cooled Volkswagen engine. That should have been used from the factory. They are best suited for attaching flanges to the front of the heater box head. Use the "S" or "L" ring spanner for easier access. Would buy again although wish they came in 25 or 50 units.

Pros
  • Great overall performance
Cons
  • Negative impression

Saved me a lot of frustration

I couldn't fit an aftermarket downpipe on my car because the factory M8x1.25 locking flange nuts were too big and I couldn't get a 13mm spanner or socket for them. I was about to purchase another item when it showed up in my suggested items. Luckily they did it because they saved my ass! The 10mm wrench size and reduced flange size worked perfectly. The only suggestion I can give you is to use some kind of lube (grease or WD40) on the threads as the crimped stop area of the nuts is very tight…

Smaller size makes them more convenient

When I first tried using them to mount the exhaust manifold on my 2004 Audi TT, they hung up as soon as they were ready to go past the end of the bolt. I thought the thread pattern was wrong, but turns out these nuts have three tabs on the rim that help secure the nut once it's properly tightened. I wasn't expecting this, so if you receive them and find they can't be hand tightened past that edge - maybe that's why. Just apply a little more torque to them and they'll keep going down. I believe…

  • Great for outdoor activities
