Durability I don't know --- check after 5 years. The only issues so far have been that (1) the included strainer clogged instantly so a coarse mesh replacement had to be used, and (2) the spout ended up under the top of the carafe leaving me in a mess filling the carafe. So (1) use a different rack or fill the funnel and don't fill the carafe to the brim.

I bought this because the German production is good. no When I used the sauce separator, I almost hit the pot. The spout flows at an angle where it exits the glass. I checked the thickness of the glass and found that the thickness was uneven and very thin in places. I cannot recommend this sauce separator.

Got it today. It arrived so carefully and securely packaged that it took me 15 minutes. unpacking. The glass is pretty thin, but that doesn't always mean it's fragile. I will update if this changes after using it. The stainless steel plate is heavy and durable. In general I like the look.

Spout broke off after washing but before I could use it. I didn't put it on my dryer next to anything else. I have no idea what happened, but the spout is so delicate it would have happened anyway, and it's better that it didn't happen then than broken glass could ruin my sauce. Too bad I didn't believe the other reviewers. Glass and stainless steel are a great idea, but you need to use stronger glass for this!

I chose this item because I need a glass sauce separator that won't melt. The size is perfect, the filter is brilliant, but the glass is too thin. I have found that I am very careful not to drop it. After each use, I carefully rewrap this item in the original packaging to avoid breakage. If it breaks, I will replace it with another product. I was spoiled by the durable American Pyrex glassware.
