I use covers when the computer is in sleep mode Doesn't cover the vents so they can be covered even when the desktop is on. I don't know why you're doing this. Soft exterior, non-abrasive interior. My first reaction when I first tried to attach this to my 21.5 inch iMac was that this suction cup didn't fit.
