it's my fault for not understanding what "lighter" obi is. It doesn't hold a sword. If your purchase purpose is Iaido or Kenjutsu, do not buy this belt. It's meant for style. This is the obi equivalent of a tie pin. Although it looks pretty cool. I wear it over my robe to tease my girlfriend.

It looked great and went well with the yukata I received as a consolation prize for canceling my trip to Japan. The seams in the knot came completely apart on the first attempt to put it on and now it's just a piece of fabric.

I like the Japanese. But I think it would be better without the tape. Maybe a clip would be better, or at least something stronger so it doesn't come loose.

I like this obi because the knot is pre-tied. The quality and color are perfect along with the white pattern in the obi. The only problem is that the instructions on the card are in full Japanese. In the beginning it is difficult to understand how to wrap the obi around yourself. I figured it out after a few tries. I wasn't sure if it should be tight or slightly loose. Easy to wrap. It's a little tricky to figure out which side is up. She gives me two bandages and I stick the sword between my obi and my shirt. Stay cozy.
