Leda Mechanical Colored Sharpener Sketching Review

These are beautiful Wax Ink Leads. White doesn't camouflage very effectively. A little disappointed with white but I liked the yellow and other colors of the coating. The pencil sharpener doesn't sharpen the leads as well as I would like, but it works well. The black lead often gets stuck in the sharpener, I don't know why. This pencil lead seems soft and weak to me. But it's nice to have a wide variety of crayons in one set.

I like the convenience of using different colors in the pen and overall I like the set. I was hoping for the brown to be closer to sepia than auburn, but it works with my sepia micron blending pen. I was also hoping that the colored rods would be a bit harder as they would need to be sharpened more often to keep the tips from rounding off and not lasting as long.

As an English teacher/artist and wife of an engineer, my personal demands for mechanical pencils are above average. This pencil exceeded my expectations - the lead is velvety smooth for shading and coloring, but the tip sharpens well enough with the included sharpener to draw fine details or lines. Pencil and accessories travel great and I take them with me everywhere. There is no place for an eraser in a pencil, but as an artist I only use special erasers, so this is not an obstacle. A handy way to carry a full set of colored pencils in a very (one could say very, very) small space! While changing leads for each color change isn't as easy as pulling out a single pencil, the process is as simple and quick. The lead is good quality, gives off great colors and the pencil and leads take up so little space that I can literally carry them anywhere in my purse or large purse. Ideal for painting outdoors.
