Great programming tool

Before you buy it in 2019, you should be aware that there are alternatives to Scratch and other more advanced Lego programming robots. They are more intuitive and have better software support that works well in the modern ecosystem. I installed this software and got several warnings that it is not compatible with my latest version of MacOS. It still works, so that's a good sign. Brick eats battery so I ordered rechargeable batteries and hope they last a while. Clearly, Lego's hardware building…

Great for learning to code

I bought this for my robotics class and it's perfect for what I need it for. I've had many EV3 robots over the years and this one worked as expected. There are several different programming languages to choose from, but we use the Mind Storms app that comes with your Chromebook. It's easy for sixth and seventh graders to program with minimal help from me. When they are in trouble I usually just ask them to read the code they wrote me and they will figure out their mistake. It's easy to build…

Lego MINDSTORMS is awesome. Disappointed with Revain

This is an amazing set that is very popular with children. The 6-year-old boy has a little trouble assembling and disassembling parts, but likes to lend a hand and enjoys driving the robot. The instructions are well structured and easy to understand. If you have never worked with Lego Technic sets I would suggest starting with the Track3r guide that comes with the kit. It includes a life size image of the part when you first encounter some of the similar parts so you can get used to recognizing

Good, annoying and really annoying.

Summary: Got it a few weeks ago. Great toy, there are some inconveniences, buy it (when you understand that it is expensive to buy, maintain and expand!) Pros: Great toy for learning assembly, transmission and programming concepts. Very good documentation available on the LEGO website, YouTube videos, some great books etc. Able to build a variety of vehicles and use sensors, remote controls etc to control them. Very, very funny. Annoying: Very small parts included; These parts are easily lost…

Great set with great learning opportunities

We have tons of Lego sets so we're already Lego fans in my family. Once you've built enough castles, pirate ships, and forts, the models are either removed or dusted off. I bought a used Mindstorms RCX kit 8 or 9 years ago and it was too much hassle with an IR tower and a Windows XP work computer. My oldest son really wasn't interested after working with NXT at school as part of the robotics team. He was one of the main players in the team, who knew how to make it work in the decisive moments…

The evolution of next generation robotics!

We used to buy a lot of LEGO® MINDSTORMS® sets from Revain. My wife, who teaches children in grades K5-8, uses these sets to help them prepare for the FIRST LEGO League (FLL) competition, as well as to share knowledge and stimulate interest in children who are exploring want to deal with robotics in the future. These must-have LEGO® MINDSTORMS® sets contain the building blocks needed to get kids started with robotics. The predecessor LEGO Mindstorms NXT 2.0 (8547) was popular with children for…
